I remember reading about Los Ninos Del Parque in a Mute Records catalogue written by Biba Kopf. In my mind it created a lineage, an axis, and an electronic pulse that began in Dusseldorf with Kraftwerk, was mutated in Berlin and New York by Moroder, and set the scene for a slew of strict, rhythmic electronic dance tracks that still sound great today. Soon after reading about Los Ninos Del Parque, Mute Records very kindly reissued it with a rolling, pulsating breakbeat mix by Renegade Soundwave, that to me, in 2008, sounds almost like a dubstep track. But it's that original bassline that just gets you and doesn't let go. Like Nitzer Ebb's Join in the Chant, some basslines are just so recognisable and unique, like a mantra to the dancefloor. Los Ninos Del Parque will never date. A fitting memorial to Chrislo Haas, who sadly passed away after years of illness.

Not at all greatful job for a German group to sing in French and/or Spanish - resulting in an experiment that's equally cold and dark, yet sensual and exotic. As DAF's Chris Haas left that group, 'Liaisons' showed more radical image delivering simplistic but intimidating music of which pieces like the cult-hit 'Los Ninos del Parque' or 'Aperitif de la Mort' reflect it so effectively. The group's sole album 'Liaisons Dangereuses' is now finally available on CD. Grab it while you can. 10+
