Mc Mojo

Profile:
MC Mojo's career began in 1995 after being deeply influenced by the early 'Jungle' vibe that at the time occupied both dancehalls and FM radio frequencies.

"I was always hooked on the vocals from Dancehall Reggae and Hip-Hop tracks but until Jungle came along there didn't seem to be a platform for combining that type of sound with a UK feel. That, for me, was the unique quality of Jungle and Drum and Bass, it allowed us to create our own sound. We weren't imitating East Coast US rappers or Kingston's Reggae artists, although they were key influences."

MC Mojo has worked around the UK and further afield with most of the industry's key players such as DJ's Andy C, ED Rush, Hype, Total Science etc securing residencies in his adopted hometown Leeds alongside partner in crime and rising star Steppa. Mojo's international work continues to increase with past visits to Estonia, Melbourne Australia, Amsterdam, Bangkok, France and last August's legendary Full Moon Party at Ko Phan Gnan's in Thailand. Previous radio work includes many guest appearances with Leeds Student Radio and more recently a guest appearance abroad with Estonian Radio 2. Regular guest slots also on London's premier pirate radio station 'Ruud Awakening 104.3 FM', with which a permanent residency has just been secured commencing July 2001.

Whilst Drum and Bass is Mojo's favoured musical genre his versatility has enabled him to work alongside many Hip-Hop, Garage and other Breakbeat artists such as Dee Jay Punk Rock and Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols), having played at The Radio One 'Love Parade' in Leeds and 'Fabric Live' in London.
