Profile:
The Machines are a classic UK Punk, Rock'n' Roll band. They were formed by Nick Paul in Southend-on-Sea, Essex in 1977, and consisted of Nick on Guitar and Vocals, Duf on Bass and John Dee on Drums. They London Punk clubs The Roxy and The Vortex, as well as many local concerts. The band released the infamous 'True Life' EP on Wax Records in 1978 which was played on The John Peel Show.

The band split in mid-1978, although in 2006 the band regenerated, and now comprise Nick Paul on Guitar and Vocals, Stephen 'Tash' Reddihough on Bass and Steve Pegrum (aka 'Steve Machine') on Drums. Two rare Machines demo tracks recorded in 1977 ('You Better Hear' and 'Racing') appeared on the compilation album 'Bored Teenagers Volume 4' on the Bin Liner label. The band played the launch party gig for this, and have continued gigging and recording ever since.
