Reviews & Discussion

Review by kalex Aug 19, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Magnum are probably one of the most underrated rock bands that I know of. Their first three studio albums (Kingdom of Madness, Magnum II, Chase the Dragon) are each a treasure of classic melodic rock, crossing over into progressive and fantasy-esque areas at times, including piano, synthesizers (yay! the wonderful sounds of the late 70ies synths!), flutes, choirs, all condensed into very compact and diverse tracks, with the wonderful voice of Bob Catley standing out particularly.

And its these three albums that made me a fan of them. Their later albums were more commercially oriented, but they managed to preserve their roots and release albums that show their potential: writing intelligent, pleasing and melodic rock songs that have depth. Almost too good to be true. :-)
