Reviews & Discussion

Review by American_Boi Jan 18, 2009
There are few modern voices with such versatility - and competency in this versatility - as Maiya's. Maiya underscores the fundamental truth that a talented musical performance, whether in dance, soul, jazz, or hip hop is one that has tonality as well as personal depth. Listening to Maiya's voice is synonymous to flipping through the pages of a personal memoir. Perhaps we are not invited to learn of the events, but we are front row ears to the emotional complexity and maturity Maiya offers us.

She commands the stage with her smile and presence, and even a digital track does not have the capability of masking it when listened to from overseas.

Maiya's voice defies categorization. It is simply one that stands the test of time, genre, and distance.
