Mallorca started sampling all his old Hip-Hop records and writing house music after hearing Acid House for the first time in 1989. He later met up with Rodger Hughes at a rave in 1990 and formed 'Ultra-Sonic'. They signed a recording deal in 1991 with Scottish independent dance label Clubscene Records and went on to release a 12" record called 'Obsession' touring the UK & Ireland.
The band progressed from playing illegal raves to touring the world with Ultra-Sonic, playing alongside the likes of Moby, Carl Cox and The Prodigy. Ultra-Sonic toured Australia and New Zealand 5 times, and headlined many European dance events and festivals such as Mayday and Nature-One (Germany), Fantazia, Rezerection and Amnesia (UK) and Soul Velvet (Japan), playing to crowds of up to 40,000 people. U-S also played the now infamous Limelight Club in New York. From 1991-1998 Ultra-Sonic released 14 singles, 4 studio albums, 1 live album and 2 full length tour videos With albums selling over 50,000 copies, in the U.K., alone there music was signed and released in Europe (Edel Records), Japan (Avex Tracks) and Australasia (Central Station Records). Also finding time to release different genres of electronic music under different aliases, Experimental Fluxtuation, Sound house, Brooklyn Boy, Lord Michael and G-Go.
In 1996 he formed 'Revolver' (which was to become the ill fated Bikini State) with Rodger Hughes. The music was a fusion of samples, guitars, bass and live drums mixed with loop beats, techno and rap vocals. After Ultra-Sonic's last album release on their own 'USR' label in 1998 Lee concentrated solely on Bikini State and secured a recording deal a year later with BMG/Deconstruction Records after being seen by MD Pete Hadfield at a gig at The Barfly in London. Pete Hadfield resigned as MD of Deconstruction in January 2000, the band were dropped and split as a result.
To the present day Mallorca has continued to write and record with studio partner and long time friend David Forbes in their own studio, the Snake Pit. Together they release music under many different names. From the global chart topping sound of Public Domain to the underground sound of Scanners. He continues to DJ and tour the globe with the same excitement and enthusiasm, staying focused on what got him interested in dance music from day one. " Music is like a drug to me, I have taken that much, that I have to supply my own addiction!"
