reconstruct some typical Belgian European sounds & couture for tommorows environment.
It all started in 2001 when Igor de Kok and Philip van de Gehuchte were producing electro-tinted
dance tracks with a dirty rock twist.Their 2 first maxi vinyls ’ride em girls’ and ’italodisco’ were received
very well....they got played by John Peel during his sessions, and got in the favourite lists of various
cult deejays( i.e.tiga & johnny slut-nag nag nag).
Reviews of this tracks mention "floorfiller" and "catchy as hell" and refer to names such as
Patrick Cowley, Felix da Housecat.
in between Mascotte was working on new tracks and made some remixes
(i.e Daan with Swedish designer drugs and sunchild, or Vive La Fete with Maquillage)
After a while, Mascotte evolved to a live band that brings a mix of electro ’n roll
and punky disco rock with garage drums, electronics, turntable, guitar and vocals.
Around their raving digital soundsystem, guitars give an extra rock punch
and the drums will break down the exact neutral feel of the sequencers...
Vocals are there to illustrate the intentions of a track more than they are
meant to be a lead element. Their lyrics are kept very basic, but
describe quite well what s going on in the collective mind of today.
A list of artists & genres they’re influenced by:
Alan Vega / Ultravox / Pixies / KLF / Divine / The Hives / Daft Punk
glamrock / rave / rockabilly / mash-up dj’s/...
Mascotte made a selection of all their recordings to make a final version
of 11 tracks that made it to the album.
The untitled album will be released march 28th 2005 on the Surprise label of lowlands (Vive La Fete,
Nid & Sancy, Eric Powa B, ...).Until that date the single Italodisco will hit the radio listeners...
As a performance Mascotte can be seen as a full grown live band
with a mysterious film noir look.
If not as a band, Mascotte can cheer up the crowd in the shape of a mix-unmix
deejay duo that finds the right balance in party & quality
