Massimo Di Lena (a.k.a. Massi DL) is a young rising artist from Naples. Since an early age He has listen to a broad variety of artists like Michael Jackson to Tupac to Oasis, and Madonna. At the age of 12, He was prematurely exposed to electronic music, especially Plastikmans’ (Richie Hawtin) productions. Due to the passion he felt by music, at the age of 14 He decided to buy 2 CdJ and a Mixer, to further develop his Dj abilities. At this time He was playing hip-hop, following the music trend of the time; but this changes quickly as his interest for techno increases rapidly. He then decides to invest in two turntables and vinyls, struggling to get a spot at friends’ parties or small events. Couple of years later, He began utilizing musical production programs, and due in big part to his innate exceptional musical ear, He starts to create new and unique sounds, which would then take him to further places. The most respected underground Labels to the likes of Multivitamins, Safari Electronique (Safari 014), Frankie Records, Trapez, have published his productions since then. Minimal Musrooms was released on February 07, a track which became his first club hit. Played by Top Djs like Marco Carola, and Richie Hawtin to name a few. Positioning Massi DL like an absolute truth to the worlds’ Underground Scene. On March 07, produces Microbiotik, a remix for his closed Napolitan friend Joseph Capriati. The release was of such success that was published in Amnesia Ibiza Underground 7 compilation. December 2007, Massi DL starts his first collaboration with the major German Record Label, Trapez, and gets published two of his tracks. 2008 brought him new opportunities; Massi DL collaborated with the talented Dj/Producer Xpansul to create the Nerd Life Ep, which was released on Soma Records. Releasing then also a remix for Let’s Go Outside, I’ll Lick Your Spine. Massi DL then worked together with Lucio Aquilina creating their own record label. This was Named Wordless, and on March 18, 08 was the release date for the Wordless 001. By the beginning of this November, We could expect the release of the Wordless 002 by Massi DL. This is an Ep full of grooves, and deep emotional vibes. His sound has evolved into a “warmer” sound, stepping somewhat away from the “minimal” concept that has characterized him in the past few years. From this perspective, comes the collaboration with the British House Label NRK Sound Division, founded in 1996. Where artists such as Larry Heard, Derrick Carter, Carl Craig have produced for. Massi DLs’ release on NRK was a remix done for Dj/Producer Nic Fanciulli a.k.a. Skylark, track under the name of “Saved”. He will next publish a remix for the House Icon Brett Johnson, which will be release on Frankie Records. Today Massi DL is a reputable name in the techno scene; He will continue to further expand and swell his sounds, while bringing his own unique grooves around the world. Stay Tuned!.
