A true electronic 'artist' - Matthew Herbert releases or remixes always have to be checked out... even if one doesn't 'get it' initially (I've done this a few times) his pieces of work nearly always do the do in the end.
He's responsible for adding 'swing' and an element of fun back some po-faced House tracks and is someone I'd recommend you to see live. I saw him supported by Bugge Wesseltoft at the Barbican and at Sonar a few times... two completely differing types of venues but still you know that the performance will be just that, and that's what I find lacking lately in House music.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but I really do recommend people to check Herbert's body of work out if you're into proper house / techno or failing that just good music (with a bit of swing and humour).
Respect! Mr. Herbert has created a new form of House Music which really kicks me the whole day. His release "Around The House" with Dani Siciliano on Phonography is an excellent work to introduce you into his style.
