E. van Brakel never made a secret of the fact that dj-ing was not his main ambition. However, after many request and missing the awareness of the impact of his tracks on the dancefloor, he decided in 2004 to please many fans and start doing dj-gigs throughout Europe. Fans were wondering what it would be like to have a wellknown producer, but still mysterious personality behind the wheels. After giving it a lot of thought (7 years or so) he decided to accept this challenge. After a few months Multigroove had the honour to first list Meagashira/Project Omeaga on their Hellbound flyer. Many have followed since.

Still, at the verge of a flourishing dj career, Meagashira/Project Omeaga has already been booked on parties like Hellbound, Speedrazor, Hellrave, Darkcore Symposium, and many more.

Naturally, the majority of his records has the stamp ‘made in Leiden’ on it. His choice of records is a mix of darkcore and darker partytracks (of which the Enzyme style is a good reflection), topped of with uptempo industrial stompers.

After the breakthrough of Endymion and Nosferatu several years ago, and the more recent noncompromising entry of Ophidian, another Enzyme member finds his way to the big venues, ready for spreading the Enzyme virus even more. Still, Meagashira has a different approach to dj-ing. His agenda can only be filled with approximately 24 gigs a year to keep it exclusive and fresh, so be sure to book him for those few instances.

Back in the days, when hardcore was still new, a young man in Leiden switched his radio to 99.3. Airplaying back then; the infamous illegal radio station ‘Radio Balans’ – if radio transmission from the Hague to Leiden was OK, that is. This man was 16 years old and called E. van Brakel. From that moment on hardcore grabbed his attention. As every other producer in the scene, he wanted to be able to make something like that himself. Starting with the usual tracker software he found out that producing was both a creative and technical challenge, requiring more professional equipment. In 1998 he got to the point where he had his first vinyl release on the ‘Sound of Spirit’ label. After this short adventure he got in contact with the Patrick van Kerckhoven, a.k.a Ruffneck, and Andrea van der Rhee at the Cardiac office. In 1999 this led to his first release on the ‘Supreme Intelligence’ label. But he had his final breakthrough with SIN09, featuring the classic ‘Through Inner Core’. Other Meagashira hits were End of Line and Swarm.

When Patrick and Andrea decided to take a step back from the hardcore scene Nosferatu and Endymion started their own label. The Enzyme legacy was born. In no-time this label became one of the most highly appreciated hardcore labels in the world. Again, the 9th release in this series featured a huge hit, this time by his alter ego ‘Project Omeaga’, with ‘Prednison-Attack’. Both loved and hated at the same time, this track must have been the most airplayed hardcore track of 2003.

As a side project, E. van Brakel started releasing techno music under the name Daryll Bayes.
