Megadrive is my favorite act to come from the early daze of the UK Breakbeat phenomenon. Their songs capture the essence of the darkside that was spoken of so much to a degree that I believe is unmatched. Each release brings with it a uniqueness to the scene that may have been a little too much to have been grasped even at that time... Haunting melodies, choice samples, tribal beats, beautifully layered percussion... These tunes have it all! I see their work on a good number of mixes, but still believe that they are highly underrated. Acts like Megadrive are the ones that were true masters of their craft and had a deep love for the work they produced. They weren't looking to ride the coattails of commercial success or compromise their sound in the slightest. All they did was create amazing music, and they did this extremely well. This is the underground at its finest... I would love to one day see a remastered compilation of their complete works...
