Mentalinstrum

To bad no one has written much about Eddie Perez and his crew. Back in the good old days, Mental Instrum released some high quality house tracks with top-rate level similar to Mood II Swing and Masters At Work. And like Mood II Swing they were quite low-key and little seen around. They were always a mystery to me thinking "who where they" and "Where they from?". But everytime i picked up a record of them or a Smack Production release or remix you always knew you would get the good stuff.
Their sound was at one time a crossover between the british speed garage sound and New Jersey house, in other words, quite tight production and minimalistic in sound making many of their tracks easily enjoyable. Though they ain't so much around this days other than Perez Myspace page that has popped up but they made some bloody good house back then. As the 90's Jersey sound seems to be more and more forgotten, no one mentions Mentalinstrum anymore, but they are a highly respected crew in my book.
