Born March 1959 in London. Studied piano, percussion and composition and sang in senior and chamber choirs at Chethams School of Music, then graduated to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There his musical experience spread to include playing percussion in orchestras in concerts at the Royal Festival and Albert Halls, drums and keyboards in jazz ensembles and participating in pop workshops.
Co-founder and keyboardist/vocalist of the successful funk/pop band Level 42 (1980-1994).
Besides his solo works and collaborations with other artists he has given concerts with the Latin Jazz band Negrocan (1994-1998), and since July 2000 he collaborates with the UK/brazilian band Da Lata, where he plays keyboards/percussion and provides backing vocals.
He has also studied Cuban Popular Music and Dance at the National School of the Arts in Havana (1998).
