Michael T. Mucci
From Soulfuric Trax house stompers like "SEND ME SOME LOVE" and "DEEP IN THE UNDERGROUND" to soulful hip-movers like "LOVE IS EVERYTHING" Mike "Da Mooch" Mucci has been an ever-present fixture in dance music since his introduction to the industry. Successfully making the transition from DJ to producer / remixer, the Miami-based artist has been behind an assortment of well known monikers spanning several sub-genres within the dance music community. With DJ staples like "THE DOOR" (under the name Circuit Boy) and Da Mooch's "THAT'S WHAT IT IS," to Billboard charting hits "I'M TALKIN' TO YOU" and "I GOT A MAN" by Shampale Cartier, Mucci has has been racking up kudos from fellow jocks and producers all over the world with a sound that deftly combines influences of a classic, house background with a cutting-edge, progressive sound thickly layered with elements past, present and future.
"I've always loved fun, soulful, catchy house tunes," Mucci explains, "my first love has always been that UK Vocal House sound, but lately, what's really working now for me in the studio, as well as in my dj sets that harder, darker, more electronic sound. As I grow as a producer and dj and artist, my sound keeps evolving. I love absorbing and twisting sounds that move me. That's what' brought me to start the Evolved name."
Ventures under the name Evolved explore yet another facet of his talent and versatility. Experimentations into new sonic territory have proven extremely fruitful in keeping his sound fresh as well as attracting DJ bookings from Europe to South America. Mike's 'Evolved' interpretation of Aalacho's "SATELLITE" earned his remix a slot on DJ Vibe's "Global Grooves Vol. 2," was picked up by Grammy Award winning duo Deep Dish for their own label Yo, as well as being selected for the legendary Global Underground series, "Deep Dish - Toronto #25." This budding global exposure earned a slew of new music fans worldwide, building momentum for his next release on the well-respected UK label, Baroque. Mucci's own robotically processed vocals and original lyrics on dark, progressive viber "A MATTER OF TIME" showcase the songwriting and production skills that define his unique talent.
This new darker sound has come to include projects with Albert Camara from ObAdam. From an early age, Camara was immersed in music and the music business. His older brother, Joe Granda (producer and writer of freestyle classic "Diamond Girl") helped steer him towards a career in music as well as paving the way for releases like "MAS SUAVE" and "RITMO CUBANO." Remixes for latin superstars such as Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Paulina Rubio earned he and production partner Oba Frank Lord's industry nods and success as remixers and producers. After spending too much time on the commercial side of Latin Music, Camara found himself longing to return to his roots where creativity didn't have to give way to formula and mass appeal. A chance meeting in a record store in Miami Beach, he would soon join forces with Mucci to become part of Evovled.
In 2002 the duo as Evolved spawned underground anthems "THIS IS YOUR LIFE" and "MUTHERF*CKER," both signed to Subliminal's experimental label, Sondos. The later featured in the soundtrack of an eposide for the FX networks cutting edge series "Nip/Tuck." The continued success of the Evolved led to numerous remixes on labels like Stereo, En-Soul, Made, and Magnetik just to name a few.
In late 2003, Mike & Al launched their own label, Amplitude Recordings, as an outlet to showcase more of their own originals as well as up-and-coming local and global talent fitting the "Evolved" sound. The first release, a down and dirty remake of Nitzer Ebb's "Control, I'm Here" brought forth yet another moniker (Da Freeks) into the spotlight resulting in massive remix interest from major artists like Paulina Rubio, India and Jzebehl. On later Amplitude releases Da Freeks reappeared with huglely popular mixes of Michael M's "DEAR DIARY" and "THE BEAT," finding their way into countless charts and propelled both singles to heavy satellite radio and mixshow play.
In addition their current production and remix schedule, Mike still logs time in the trenches. A seasoned veteran in the DJ booth, he brings his unique club and studio experience together using cutting-edge technology to create seamless, pumping journeys for dance floors spanning three continents. Mucci's solo appearances and guest slots along with industry piers like Superchumbo, Creamer & K, Trendroid and That Kid Chris have earned him international recognition and the influence to launch his own Amplitude and Frequency parties along with Winter Music Conference events at well known clubs like Nocturnal, Amika, Crobar and Twist.
