Reviews & Discussion

Review by TheatreX Oct 11, 2010
Living here in Louisville, KY, where My Morning Jacket is from, they do get a LOT of airplay, especially on public radio, which does give a lot of attention to local bands. However, I fail to understand the appeal of My Morning Jacket at all. From what I have heard of them, the music is derivative and unoriginal, and like many local bands that get lots of airplay, just plain bland. I had a friend from California ask me what I knew of them, she said they were getting a lot of airplay in support of a recent release by them and that she thought there was not much to them. And yet, they seem to be very popular. Go figure. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Without a doubt the best band so far in the 21st century! Their blend of classic rock, country, folk and everything inbetween is just exactly what I want. Here in Sweden they still aren't big at all, which for me is kind of a mystery. But i will not complain, because I don't like to listen to music other people listen to.
I'm afraid they will be bigger and bigger, because they sure have the capacity to be as big as U2 or Coldplay or whatever. My Morning Jacket are worth all the appreciation the world can give, but I'm afraid I will lose my interest for them if they get to big... =/
