Necrophagia was formed in 1983 by vocalist Killjoy. His inspirations were Venom, Hellhammer and horror/gore movies, which is the band's main theme and lyrical topic. The band released a few demos throughout the years, and finally released their full length in 1987, "Season of the Dead". However, shortly after the release the band broke up because the other members wanted to go towards a more mainstream style, while Killjoy wanted to maintain the sick and heavy sound.
After the break up, Killjoy began working on an apparent Thrash self-titled band. Phil Anselmo (used the name Anton Crowley in Necrophagia) of Pantera contacted Killjoy and said he would be able to write a new Necrophagia album. Killjoy eventually recorded "Holocausto de la Morte". Necrophagia was back and was far more brutal and sicker than ever. The band did an EP, a single and Killjoy also released some of their old stuff because of fans asking for it. In 2002 they released the album "Harvest Ritual" which was followed by "Divine Art Of Torture" in 2003.
The bands current line-up is: Frediablo (Gorelord) on guitar, Iscariah (ex-Immortal, Wurdulak) on bass, Fug (Wurdulak) on Guitar, Mirai Kawashima (Solar Anus) on keyboards and Titta Tani on drums.
