Nick Heyward was born on May 20, 1961, in Beckenham, Kent, England. Heyward, who cites Paul MaCartney as his main influence, formed 'Haircut 100' in 1980. The band, a post-punk 'New Wave' band, stormed the charts in 1982 sporting the 'US College Boy' look and Heyward's face dominated the glossy pop mags. He recorded one LP for Haircut 100, playing guitar & singing lead vocals and then departed at their peak for a solo career. Heyward's solo work was aimed at a adult audience and gave him more credibility. His popularity in the UK remained in the pin up area until his star began to descend in the mid-late 80's when he faded gracefully into the background. Heyward has continued to record albums, none of which received attention except for a surprise hit in the USA in 1994. In 2001, Heyward worked on a project with Greg Ellis and a 'Best Of..' was released in 2003.
