New Energy

Real Name:
Andrea Ribeca & Giuseppe Ottaviani
Profile:
Andrea Ribeca (Born in Viterbo, Italy, 1974): His first experience with the turnables was in 1990, becoming then a cutting/scratch dj. Meanwhile his passion evolved with a deeper and deeper knowledge of music which brought him to subscribe his first techno work in 1992. After that production he worked for many years as a resident dj in various techno-trance clubs, until 1999 when he meets Giuseppe with whom he starts the NU NRG project.

Giuseppe Ottaviani (Born in Viterbo, Italy, 1978): At the age of 7, encouraged by his particular temperament for music he begun to study the piano. In 1995, after developing a fine music sensibility, he became a dj, getting closer through the years to techno-trance music, that revealed itself to be a strong passion. So he began to attend techno parties, at one of which in 1999 he met Andrea, and shortly after started the NU NRG project.

The group has hung up its activity in late 2005. The will to make solo career was the main reason behind this decision. Last releases through Monster Tunes label contain only the old material. Despite releasing some of it recently, there is still a large number of tracks which could be only heard in their live-sets, not anywhere else.

Reviews & Discussion

The heroes from Italy. Guiseppe and Andrea are one of the biggest artists today. They always make top quality tunes that gets the crowd going. Ever since they released the 12" Dreamland that also were on Paul van dyks "Politics of Dancing" they have become a big name in the scene. In the last months Guiseppe and Andrea have also started to do solo projects besides Nu Nrg and also those projects have recived many great responds around the world. There are no limits for these to guys. Paul van dyk sure can pick em for his label VANDIT.

Well, very interesting that no-one has found it prudent to mention these two.

A very original sound regarding their arrangement and style; I've been following their material pretty closely since they hit it big with "Dreamland". Their tracks are living proof that melodic trance can still be epic and hard without becoming cheesy or formulaic.

Want hard and techy? try "The Mind" on the Connective EP. Care for something with great vocal accompaniment? Try their remix of Sunblind's "Believe". Or, if you want to see some real production talent as far as chord structure, cadence, and phrase, look no further than "Le Mirage" another brilliant track from the Connective EP.

Really, Nu-NRG's music can be the perfect compliment to any trance set. Whether Hard Dance/Trance in general, Psytrance, melodic, down-tempo, it really doesn't matter.

Their live-act does not lack either, as they perform well blended mix-sets as well as an exquisite Live-PA act. If you've lost faith in trance music, then look no further... these guys are an enduring sound that will not be so easily typecasted or emulated. Let's hope they get the recognition they deserve.
