Oasis (2)

Profile:
UK hit rock band Oasis were formed in 1990 but were originally called "The Rain".
At the time of Liam joining the band his brother Noel had been working as a roadie for The Inspiral Carpets.
Liam saw a poster advertising a gig at The Swindon Oasis leisure centre on Noel's bedroom wall and thought "Oasis" was a good name for his group and that is how the name was found.

On August 28, 2009, Noel announced that he was leaving the band after which the band disbanded. The remaining members continue performing as Beady Eye, whereas Noel formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Reviews & Discussion

Like one of their promotional shoots signified during the 'Be Here Now' era :

"The best there was.
The best there is and,
The best there EVER will be!"

No truer words could have been said.

So it looks like Oasis have finally split up for good. Much as I love their music, I have to say it's probably for the best. The last album had some storming tunes; namely the three that were released as singles but there were some very mediocre tunes on there as well-'(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady' and 'To Be Where There's Life' spring to mind.Liam suprised everyone by writing some decent songs but the other band members efforts were poor. Even the usually reliable Noel had a bit of an off day. That's not to say he hasn't before, remember 'Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is' on 'Standing On The Shoulders of Giants'? In my opinion the worst Oasis song ever and the only one I skip (yes, 'Little James' included-crap lyrics granted but the music's alright). Why Noel changed a winning formula I'll never know.If he'd stuck to writing all the songs and letting Liam sing them we'd have a lot more quality and a lot less filler. He should never have let the others write and should've focused on playing the guitar and left his singing to the B-sides. That's not to say the others didn't have their moments with songwriting, just not consistent enough. So, thanks for all the brilliant tunes and the not so brilliant behaviour and I'll always listen to the songs, just don't have a reunion in ten years time when you're all fat and even uglier and Liam's voice is totally fucked!
