Reviews & Discussion

Review by operatica Apr 10, 2002
If you enjoyed the first Operatica album then you should definitely check out the new one coming out in May. It's called "Operatica- Shine". It features four divas, including Inva Mula "The Fifth Element", Shakila, Ying Huang "Madam Butterfly" and Maureen O'Flynn (Rigoletto). Shine once again combines the haunting beauty of Opera and Electronica.
Opera has continued to mature and mutate throughout its history, and "OPERATICA" brings opera to the next stage of its natural evolution. The enterprising musical project from E-Magine Entertainment pairs some of the genre's most acclaimed and accomplished divas with prolific composers of modern electronic music, releasing the music from the aristocratic casings of high-browed opera houses and presenting it to fresh ears in new forms with grace and dignity intact. Dance dons have littered their productions with bits and pieces of the finest arias and overtures since the dawn of acid-house in the late '80s ("Excalibur (O Fortuna)" from Carl Orff's 1937 classic Carmina Burana remains the secret weapon of numerous DJs), but "OPERATICA" presents the first complete, in-studio collaborations between emerging dance producers and reigning stage divas, resulting in an organic body of sensuous, soul-stirring songs unlike any that electronic music has seen before it.

Please check out the new album in stores in May!
