Paul Mac

Real Name:
Paul Souter
Profile:
Paul runs and records for Stimulus and C-Side records as well as a host of other labels.

He has said in interview that it was necessary to use a number of aliases during more productive phases of his career. Some of his pseudonyms are unusual names, but they are all copied from real people, for example Eddie Fiola was a famous BMX stunt-rider in the 80's.

Reviews & Discussion

Review by gregga Sep 07, 2006 (edited over 5 years ago)
One of the most prolific producers in the techno scene for a few years now, Paul Mac's unique style blends house and acid elements with funky and percussive techno rhythms. Like his Dutch contemporary Joris Voorn he also has a great sense of melody and many of his tracks feature waves of shimmering synth chords in a slightly trancey vein. One thing that strikes me about Paul Mac is the incredible diversity of his productions, yet they all retain his trademark sound, coming across as much more organic than many other techno artists. All these factors come together to make Paul one of the finest producers in contemporary techno along with artists such as Hertz and Joris Voorn, and all his numerous releases are well worth taking a look at.
