Philip Wilson made his name as drummer in the jazz "avant-garde" scene in the mid 60's when he became member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago group.
Philip Wilson left the band in the 70's. Since then, he has played with a lot of musicians like Julius Hemphill, Anthony Braxton, David Murray, Bill Laswell, and his old Art Ensemble cohort Lester Bowie.
