A poet and interdisciplinary artist, he lives and works in Quebec, Canada. He invented, as is perhaps best known for the Macchina Ricordi, an accretionary (i.e. loop-based) recording device.
Arcand co-founded the artist collective Avatar in Quebec with Jocelyn Robert and Christof Migone in 1993. Alongside its recording studios and experiments, it founded the label Avatar / OHM éditions.
