Piiri is a project of Ilpo Väisänen from Pan Sonic.

Under this monicker he releases rhytmically complex music with very little melody or harmony. Often the rhytms he creates are rather jazz-like and even swinging, but naturally with a slighly twisted touch. So it sure ain't dixieland, but does remind me of the complexties and rhytmical innovations of hard / free bop, early 70's fusion and such.
