Reviews & Discussion

Review by bassandtreble Sep 07, 2011 (edited 8 months ago)
These guys, just as the beatles, changed the face of pop music during the sixties and seventies, introducing psychedelic, classical and avant-garde music to a huge audience, pop was never the same after them, and for the better!

The beauty of Pink Floyd is found in the mystery of the bands history as well as music. From the mysterious disapearence of the bands founder Syd Barrett to the deep dark interpretive meanings in their lyrics the band has always lived a life clothed in the darkness and the secrets of the bands past. Pink Floyd will always be remembered for being one of the most influential bands of all time and of course for their musical contribution of Dark Side of the Moon, but the true beauty of their music is found in their less popular albums such as "The Final Cut", a story album that is almost a sequel to the bands second biggest album "The Wall", discuses the untimely death of Roger Waters father in a trench in Anzio during WWII. Opnions on corrupt govenment are found in almost every album, but have to be unearthed from the storys they tell. These parables bring about the inequalities of government and the influences of human nature on daily life.

Pink Floyd are, in my opinion, at the top of the musical food chain. These guys came into music at a time when The Beatles were extremely famous, and you could tell from their first album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" that they were trying to emulate the sound. But these guys knew what they were doing and began to expiriment with their music, and then came to release some of history's greatest albums. Highly influential along with King Crimson as being one of the first Progressive Rock bands of all time. Great band!
