Unmatched. Absolutely unmatched anywhere in the breakbeat scene. The obesely phat danceability of every Plump DJs track ever released is a testament to the obviously innate talent of the Plump Duo. Utterly saturated in bad-ass funk and slap-you-sixteen-different-sideways basslines (re: Big Groovy Fucker), hooks so sharp you'll need to wear chainmail (The Funk Hits The Fan), and a swag of inspired DJ mixes (Elastic Breaks for a start) and hell-raising remixes (That Stakker Humanoid remix gets me every time) that have the Plumps standing out clear in the front of an ever growing and increasingly vital breakbeat scene. The Plumps are leading the charge, and I'm willing to follow them straight into the dancefloor breach. Da-da-da-dah, da-daaah!!
... and after seeing these guys in action on the decks at the 10 Days Off festival, Gent, Belgium, I can certainly confirm the mysterious unintentional desire to do the "make-a-cube-with-hands" dance routine.
The Plumps blew the roof off the place, with not a dry eye in the house as they finished off by splicing the melody from Underworld's Born Slippy with their remix of Elektronaut's Bumper.
I find it hard to find the words to descirbe this duo other than that they are the best thing going in breakbeat or the whole dance music scene for that matter. True, everyone has their own opinions, but I would have to say that the majority of people whether they're in to that type of music or not would thoroughly enjoy seeing the plumps in action. The sound they create is second to none, playing their own stuff or others, every time they release a new tune I expect one of them to be mediocre, but I havn't been disapointed yet. These guys are definately the way forward, and for those who havn't seen them live or havn't got any of their music, go out and buy some now, I can assure you it will bring a smile to your face!!
