Pól MacAmlaigh, Simon O'Laoghaire, Ciáran MacUiliam , Michael O'Floinn, A.A. Nemtheanga
Primordial were formed in 1987 in Skerries, Ireland, by Pól MacAmlaigh (Bass) and Ciáran MacUiliam (Guitar). After years of demos and a revolving door of band members, a steady line up consisting of A.A. Nemtheanga (Vocals), Ciaran MacUiliam (Guitar), Pól MacAmlaigh (Bass) and D MacAmlaigh (Drums) signed to Cacophonous Records where they released their debut album; 1995's "Imrama", a characteristically more melodic black metal record. They would gradually came to refine their sound with folkier, darker elements on "A Journey's End" (1998) by which time the band had moved to Misanthropy Records, though this was also short lived, as Misanthropy was coming to an end. The band again switched labels, signing to dutch label Hammerheart Records where they released an EP ("The Burning Season") as well as two full-length albums ("Spirit The Earth Aflame" in 2000 and "Storm Before Calm" in 2002) The band also had it's debut "Imrama" re-issued in 2000. Though soon after Hammerheart Records ceased to exist, the label is now active as Karmageddon Media, which released a re-issue of the band's first demo enhanced with bonus tracks and a live DVD. The band's current home is Metal Blade Records, where they released their most recent album; "The Gathering Wilderness" (2005) to much critical acclaim.
