Belleville, the backyard of an old Parisian building... It's here that Kriss has installed his machines, on the heights of the city... Just like the melting pot of his neighbourhood, Kriss writes an evolutionary music where the past confronts itself with the present, the mixing as the subject, the sound of all the communities as the mark.
During years Kriss worked in duet, as second head, with Yod.They met in 1995 and it’s in the streets that they decided to give substance to their sound itches. In the confluence of the experimental and the internationalist underground with a subversive soul, they imposed new grounds, pulverized the established musical formats via the abstract breakbeat, via Pushy!’s total mental vibe and Mousse Clinic’s kind of old school techno.
Very quickly, their electronic essay becomes so talented, it inspires curiosity and respect from their peers. Moreover, a huge buzz precedes their slightest live performances or discographic appearances.(...) Since its beginnings, the combo provokes encounters, tries to extract itself of its own constraints, building an alliance between free sounds and original soundtrack, theatre, dance or fashion shows... A prolific range where the nuance is to be found because, besides his stylistic painter's palette composition, Kriss knows how to show a certain idea of a clash.
After four years shared with Yod, Kriss has recently begun composing on its own; a new era enriched by a sheer experience and a consequent musical culture: "To make music alone is a bit like taking an abstract road... Environment, sounds and notes become the main subjects".
As a child Kriss buys records which remain in a drawer because of lack of hi-fi equipment. In those days, he already considers music as a language without words... A memory engraved in his current work. As a proof: "Free Form", his new album and first release for Furtif Records (electronic label specializing in the undefinable). More loungy but still freezone at heart, Kriss transfers towards the main part, the ease as the enemy, the conductive on-line instinct. The result is as high as the expectation: surprising and pushing the Pushy! Logic further. All codes are burst, sweetness, restraint, power and brutality walk together as the multiple facets of a personality.
Once again, Kriss banishes all that could freeze his identity. The composer settles a balance full of sharpness between urban vibes, internal passions and mental chill-out... A vast range of feelings which, if one is attentive to it, opens a frontal fight against the evidence.
Once more, Kriss doesn't look for the unique, dogmatic truth (and isn't that what one looks for when listening to some music?).There is in this record the same artistic will as the one Kriss hopes to find amongst his alter egoes of the Fashion, Theatre and Dance spheres when they mix their desires: a sincere, impressive and open minded experiment.
With this work, Pushy! certainly confirms his ability to constant renewal.
So,wether you like it or not, nothing will prevent it from existing... The repetition is not in his wordbook. What about yours?
