Amsterdam born DJ, producer and remixer Rafaël Frost’s first touch of producing electronic music came at the age of 13. Now being a main artist on Ferry Corsten’s Flashover label, Rafaël Frost has gained recognition in the scene as one of the finest trance producers out there. Having done remixes for artists like Kyau & Albert, Ferry Corsten, Bryan Adams, Rank 1 and Alex M.O.R.P.H., Rafaël Frost is known for his distinctable, edgy, yet euphoric sound you will immediately recognize. It’s the very same thing that make his DJ sets and productions stand out from the rest…
REMIXING “GREECE 2000”
Rafaël Frost’s first release came in 2004, and it wasn’t a small one. Rafaël Frost got the opportunity to remix the worldwide hit “Greece 2000” by “Three Drives”. The remix received massive support from all big names including the 2004 world #1 DJ : Tiësto. Still being a “rookie”, it was a great start of his career in electronic dance music.
FLASHOVER RECORDINGS
After having his first release on “Massive Drive Recordings” and it being a big success, it was the A&R manager of Ferry Corsten who contacted Rafaël Frost for a meeting to browse through some of his unreleased material. As Ferry Corsten was setting up his new label “Flashover Recordings” they were searching for new artists. They however did not want just any new artist, the artists they were looking for had to have a really unique sound, a sound that would make the label stand out. Rafaël Frost previewed a small part of an unfinished track “Mute Your Mind”, which was lying in the dust for over 2 years. Both the A&R manager and Ferry Corsten were blown away by the preview, which featured a typical eighties drum sound blended with trancy bass-lines together with acoustic guitars in a way that was never heard before in electronic dance music. After listening to Rafaël Frost’s unreleased material, they knew they had found the right guy.
A new release for Rafaël Frost on Flashover Recordings was a fact and would mean the start of a tight collaboration-ship with Flashover Recordings. “Mute Your Mind” became a big hit in clubs all over the world and received support by DJ’s such as Ferry Corsten, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and was featured in Judge Jules’ popular radio show on “BBC Radio 1”.
GIGS
A great 2006 led to signing up with Ferry Corsten’s Dance Therapy booking agency in 2007. Since then Rafaël Frost has been asked to perform at mega events like Dance Valley (2006 & 2008 edition) , Mayday (Russian Federation) and Cream (Ukraine), but also at club nights like Ministry of Sound (United Kingdom), Sublime (Australia), Digital Society (United Kingdom) and HeavensGate (Germany).
DANCETOUR COMPILATION CD
Rafaël Frost is also a 3 years in a row resident at the mega outdoor events of DANCETOUR. The events with a visitor count of 120.000 each year, are held in the summer period throughout several big cities in Holland with DJ’s such as Marco V, Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate, Sander van Doorn, Junkie XL and many others. As a successful resident at the DANCETOUR events, Rafaël Frost was asked by DANCETOUR to create their very first compilation CD. And so in 2008 Rafaël Frost released his first compilation CD in collaboration with DANCETOUR: A double-cd perfectly reflecting the atmosphere of the DANCETOUR events.
“RAFAËL FROST DELIVERED A TOP NOTCH QUALITY COMPILATION CD, COMBINING DIFFERENT STYLES WHICH CREATE A VERY UNIQUE SOUND. THE COMPILATION REALLY GIVES YOU THE SENSE AS IF YOU WERE AT ONE OF THE DANCETOUR EVENTS ITSELF”
