Real Name:
Andy Cocozza & Nick Williams
Profile:
The Rhythmic State are a Scottish hardcore dance act that formed in December 1992. Named from a like of the line 'rhythmic synergy' from The Shamen's 'Boss Drum' and group 808 State. They created a demo tape of their music and passed it to DJ Tom Wilson to play on his Steppin' Out show on Radio Forth in Edinburgh.
They consisted of Nick Williams (Keyboards & MC), Andy Cocozza (Keyboards), Amanda Gent (Vocals), Rab and Kev (Dancers).
'Power People' became a heavily requested track by listeners to Steppin' Out.
The Rhythmic State got a record deal and 'Power People' was released in July 1993 on Steppin' Out Records. The band quickly became one of the hottest acts in Scotland and played various gigs and all the main venues throughout Scotland, Ireland and the North of England. This established the group as a great crowd pleaser and major pull.

One of the Rhythmic State's biggest moments came playing at the Rezerection event for the first time in October 1993 to a 6000 strong sellout crowd. They were now firmly in the top four Scottish acts alongside the likes of Ultra-Sonic, TTF and Q-Tex.

On Christmas Eve 1993 they performed at the Bunker in East Calder.

They signed to Massive Respect Records and released 'Another World EP' in 1994. The hardcore track 'Soap On A Rope' was well received and ensured their popularity continued. They followed this up with the 'Slam EP'. TRS went from strength to strength winning Radio Clyde & Radio Forth's 'Song & Band of the Year' awards.

The band signed for Clubscene Records in 1995 and released new material. 1997 saw them remix their fans favourite 'Soap On A Rope' and also release a full album 'State Crew Jam'.

2001 saw them return in fine form with a performance at the Metropolis in Saltcoats with Valerie on vocals. They have continued to work on new material and have played at venues all over.
In 2007 The Rhythmic State played at Fantazia Clash of the Titans at Braehead Arena Glasgow. For Hogmanay 2007 they performed at the Back To The Future event at Carling Academy.

April 2008 saw them play at Fantasylands.
