Robin Jacobs

Real Name:
Robin Jacoby
Profile:
In the summer of 1980 Robin was born in a contemplative town called Friedberg in Germany. His love for music developed very early in his life and was especially encouraged by his fathers affinity for 60s and 70s rock music. At the age of 11 he firstly encountered electronic music. Hip-hop and then early UK hardcore styles, constituted Robins door to electronic music. By the year 1994, at the age of 14, he completely fell for electronic music. The Album "Music for the Jilted Generation" from THE PRODIGY, together with the weekly radio-show HR3 Clubnight where djs like Sven Väth, Mark Spoon (R.I.P) or DJ Dag were broadcasted, were what finally motivated Robin to buy his first records and start his dj career. It soon became clear that at that time, the music Sven Väth played was the most popular. And so the style of those days developed into the direction of hard, experimental techno. But Robin Jacobs had never liked the idea of fixing himself to one style only. So he always played whatever he felt like, house/electro and even sometimes breakbeats. As the years went by, Robin played at many private parties. Until in 2002, when first booking requests were made by local organizers and Robin also held own real parties, he decided to steer his music into a more professional direction. Although he played at many parties in the Frankfurt area, and even next to several well-known djs such as Dj Goodgroove or Thomas P. Heckmann the real breakthrough was still to come. And so Robin decided to start producing and in march of 2005 his first own project the Dj Fuse-Bouma Ep- was released on Neuton Music. This record made it into the cases and charts of big names such as Mauro Picotto, Laurent Garnier, James Holden, Tomcraft, Holgi Star, Karotte, Emerson, Dave Shokh, and Gennaro Le Fosse and was soon sold out. Thanks to the Bouma Ep new gates were opened to Robin; new connections were made and he was offered better gigs. The year 2006 also began well for Robin. He not only won the Timewarp Producer Contest together with his friend and dj-colleague Martex, but he founded SKRIPT, a network of artists and at the same time a booking agency. Robin has also moved on and left his DJ Fuse alias behind. Not only did he grow out of the name, which made it somewhat impersonal, but he wanted to distinct himself from another dj in the united states with the same name. In 2008 he founded his Labels Skript Music and Skript Digital.
