In 1963, after moving to Lancaster, California, he joined up with future member of the Magic Band, Bill Harkleroad (aka Zoot Horn Rollo) in a band named B.C. & The Cavemen. He played in the Magic Band on Trout Mask Replica; Lick My Decals Off, Baby; The Spotlight Kid; Clear Spot & Unconditionally Guaranteed.
Mark Boston left to form Mallard with bandmates John French, Bill Harkleroad, John Thomas, and Art Tripp.
He made a solo album Love Space & was nominated for Bass Player of the Year by Playboy Magazine in 1969.
