From the UK’s official capital of Funk, Brighton! Many years spent in Manchester and now based in Madrid.
Have my own projects, Malena (Freestyle Records) and solo tunes (Lovemonk). Also doing a track for the latest New Mastersounds album and some recording for the new Matthew Halsall album(Godwana Records). Feature on the new Sweet Vandals album (Unique) and have been seen live around Madrid with all sorts groups such as Speak Low and Mama Boogie.
I began my career in the highly influential UK break-beat and Hip-Hop scene that was Grand Central Records. As the in-house session player for the label, i worked with Rae & Christian, Aim, Veba, Fingathing, The Pharcyde, QnC, YZ and Supernatural. Heavily involved in anything new, i also worked closely with other highly rated UK producers such as Jimpster, Andy Votel, Nightmares on Wax and Graham Massey.
Considerable live work followed with tours of the US , Australia, Europe and Africa as well as appearances at The Montreaux Jazz Festival, Roskilde, Livid, Tea in the Park, North Sea Jazz Festival, Lowlands and Glastonbury.
More mainstream work came in the form of recording and tours with the likes Badly Drawn Boy, Embrace, Roy Ayres and The Resin Dogs from Australia.
Following my playing on the soundtrack to the Guy Ritchie film ‘Snatch’, i was snapped up by Yamaha with a much coveted instrument endorsement deal.
Not surprisingly, having spent so much time in studios, it was a natural progression to start writing, recording and producing. I set up a studio at the Moolah Rouge Studios in Manchester and quickly formed a partnership with another producer based at Moolah Rouge, Dan Broad (who’s credits include: The Happy Mondays, Peter Hook, The Doves and Badly Drawn Boy).
I have since written and produced tracks for a wide range of labels such as Freestyle Records, Hed Kandi, Kingstreet, Sony, Universal, MTV Ministry of Sound, Soulfuric and Mr Bongo. His re-mix credits include Grupo X (UK), and Kokolo (USA).
Currently working with Freestyle Records (UK), Rip-Curl (Japan) and Lovemonk (Spain).
