Samantha Maloney

Real Name:
Samantha Maloney
Profile:
Samantha Maloney (born December 11, 1975, New York City) is a drummer who has performed with Hole (2), Mötley Crüe, Eagles of Death Metal, and as part of The Herms (live band of electro-punk Peaches). Maloney enrolled at the High School of Music, Art and Performing Arts, F.A.M.E. in New York City at the age of fourteen, and studied percussion extensively for three years. At the age of sixteen, she auditioned for the role of replacement drummer with post-hardcore band Shift (6), and so impressed the band that her position became permanent. In 1998, she replaced Patty Schemel as the drummer in Hole, and remained with the band until its hiatus in 2000, whereupon she was offered and accepted the role of drummer with Mötley Crüe for the length of that year.
In addition to her high profile drummer positions, Maloney has worked on soundtracks, contributing music for Daryl Hannah's documentary about a stripper called Stripnotes, and adding live drums to Hans Zimmer's score for the film Black Hawk Down. In 2002, Maloney, with Melissa Auf Der Maur, Paz Lenchantin), and Radio Sloan created a female supergroup called The Chelsea, who only played one show before quickly going their separate ways. The name would later be used by Courtney Love for her equally short-lived backing band; whose line-up was assembled by Maloney.
