Reviews & Discussion

For me Sbtrkt's music is just a revolution in pop. I couldn't believe me ears when I fearst heard his self titled first album, which was also the first thing in general I heard from him. For me it is just unbelieveable how he melts UK Bass, Garage Traditions, UK Electronica, Dubstep, Pop, Soul in this unique way and listening to it for me the question rises, why no one else came up with this kind of sound before because it seems as if it has all been there before. Admirable record and a must for every music lover in the world.

SBTRKT is an artist that for me has been pushing the boundaries of UK Electronic music since 2009. With his sound of progressive electronic BASS driven music, its easy to label him as a future garage artist but only minor influences can be heard within his latest and previous tracks.

The first time I heard one of SBTRKTS tunes was in BM in Soho on the ltd white press of “Timeless” which sent me reeling. It was simple yet came correct in all the right places and he has been doing that ever since, with tracks that sound so different but have that sprinkling of SBTRKT “magic”.

What you can expect from SBTRKT is the song will either be melodically beautiful such as the remix of Modelselktors “Art and Cash” or to be bass heavy with a dancefloor facing attitude heard in the track “Soundboy Shift”. One thing that ties them all together is a conscious thought toward pushing the boundaries of UK electronic music and keeping it original.
