Severe Illusion began in the summer of the year 2000 in Göteborg, Sweden. Both members Ulf Lundblad and Fredrik Djurfeldt had previously been making more experimental forms of electronic music and wanted to establish a platform where more danceable music could be created.
The music of Severe Illusion could be described as a static EBM/Noisecore crossover with influences mainly from the canadian scene of the late 1980:s.
