Avant Jazz diva Shingai is quite simply one of the most original vocalists i have heard
in years. Her melodies and movements inspire beyond and with the sensational lead guitarist Dan present the perfect duo and leave Tuck n Patty behind to pioneer a new era of songwriters

“Over the years countless copywriters have compared artists with the incomparable Janis Joplin. PR people have devalued the currency. But I’ve fallen for a song called No Fear Of Falling from an artist called Shingai Shoniwa who really does have the passion and raw soulfulness of Janis. Remember the name.”

"got a call from my snowboarding mate Maria one evening to come and see a new unsigned band she knew play in London at the Borderline club. They are called Sonarfly and they were competing in the battle of the bands, and tore the place up. What a great band, and doubtless to say they won it outright. The singer Shingai, stormed the stage and was the most exciting singer and frontperson I’ve seen in years. So afterwards while we were all celebrating and getting mashed, I asked her to sing a song on this record I was writing at the time. Months later I tracked her down again and brought her to Great Linford Manor studios to hang out and cut the tune while I was mixing the album. When she went into the vocal booth, I didn’t know what to expect. She started singing and it made me want to cry. The track was so moving it made everyone in the studio shiver." - Ace (ex-skunkanasie member)

Every gig Sonarfly plays blows the audience sky-high with the sheer energy they radiate. Their trademark 'edgy' sound grounded in soul, funk, jazz and all-out rock can only come as an arctic blast of fresh air to heads clogged and foggy with modern pappy pop. This is music for people in the real world: unpredictable, sublime and sometimes uncontrollable.
