Reviews & Discussion

Review by fabriknos Mar 14, 2011
SA 42 really should have gone by a different name. It's just a bit too similar to another little Belgian band you may have heard of... the pioneers of EBM, Front 242. This similarity probably worked against SA 42's popularity, and they released their first singles after the Frontmen were already the established forerunners in the style. That said, SA 42 certainly held their own when it came to straight up EBM and should be looked into for fans of the old, pure style. I was amazed to see them mount a comeback in 2007 with the release of Transformation, which is actually a pretty kickin album, full of heavy techno rhythms and oldschool EBM basslines - similar to DAF's comeback album in 2003, but much heavier and darker. Definitely worth checking out.
