Silver Convention

Profile:
Vocal girl trio. German producer/songwriter duo Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay released "Save Me," in 1974 on Jupiter Records, early editions using the artist name "Silver Bird Convention." The single was an early disco success in the UK (Magnet) and the artist name was changed to "Silver Convention."
Three German girls were added to complete the line-up. Further single releases in the US (on Midland and later Midsong records) did extremely well - the disco classics "Fly, Robin, Fly," and "Get Up And Boogie," combined infectious disco beats with whirling violins.
Later singles fared less well, but are just as worthwhile, like "San Francisco Hustle" and "Tiger Baby." But other releases are just downright tacky cheese, like "Thank You Mr. DJ," and "Dancing In The Aisles." So be selective...

"Fly, Robin, Fly," was the very first US 12" on the Midland label (barring a Carol Douglas 4-track EP) - see above. It's actually the b-side of "Always Another Girl."
