It's very strange that, while The Smiths are revered as one of the greatest English bands ever, their albums have not yet been remastered (posted December 2007). Only the collection "The Very Best Of The Smiths" has been remastered -- and it's not a particularly enjoyable collection any way (Morrissey and Marr were very unhappy with the quality of the remastering, and the fact that they were excluded from the whole process). Please please please, won't someone give this exceptional music the aural enhancement it deserves?

The greatest Indie/Rock band of all time in my opinion. A lyrical genius that spoke for a generation and in some ways still does & the greatest guitarist of his generation equals a match made in heaven. Four masterpiece studio albums. Countless classic singles and b sides. Three fantastic compilations of b sides and live versions. YOU NEED THEM ALL. They never sold out and they never compromised. They never went on and on past their sell by date, like so many other rockers. They have completely stood the test of time, for evidence just look at how many kids still get into The Smiths and buy their albums. Music to make you laugh, music to make you cry, music to make you feel wanted, music to make you feel part of something, music to rejoice to, music that speaks to you... Unique in every sense of the word, they have influenced countless bands, including Radiohead, Pulp, Oasis, Blur, Verve etc etc. The Smiths deserve the ultimate RESPECT - LEGENDS.

I think Johnny Marr knew exactly what he was after when choosing to collaborate with Morrissey in 1982. These songs would be absolute relics; the most cutting edge folk songs ever to have been composed. With such an inspiring word-smith, and a perfectly suited rhythm section of Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke, Marr dug effortlessy deep; producing tastefully-sparkling gems via outstanding guitar arrangements that mirrored Morrissey's unique slant on events and emotions.
