Smoke City

One of my favorite bands. Flying Away was their first, Heroes of nature their second. Flying Away was re-released in 2001 after much acclaim. This is really a cult band too, but the inclusion of Underwater Love on many compilations in the early 2000-2002 and late 90's as well as a Levi's ad in Europe saw them reach a new audience.

Very talented musicians. Mark Brown's other project KV:5 is taking on steam. Nina Miranda is perhaps the most known member commercially, and works with many producers and Dj's and has had many guest spots. But Christian Franck is perhaps the core, coming from a rich music background, he's a terrific guitar player and musician/producer. He hails on the group Batu as well as Da Lata.

In fact you can see all members of Smoke City working with "Da Lata" (not to be confused with the Da Lata of Brazilian underground singer Fernanda Abrue). at some point in time in some way. If you like Smoke City, definitely check out Da Lata's "Songs from the Tin" and "Remix" project, as well as Smoke City's sophomore release: "Heroes of Nature".

Smoke City is a good band with some Brazillian influences. Their song "With You" is a great chillout track and appears on the Hed Kandi compilation "Serve Chilled".
