Reviews & Discussion

"A proponent of the new skool electro sound "a fusion of Detroit electro with Miami bass funk" the south Florida-based Soul Oddity was the partnership of producers Joshua Hay and Romulo Del Castillo. Supposedly formed as the result of a chance encounter with a UFO, Soul Oddity's fascination with the otherworldly continued on their 1996 debut album, "Tone Capsule", which collected their three previous EP's released earlier that same year. One year later, the duo followed up with Randa Roomet, recorded as the side project Phoenecia."

soul oddity is no more, but i must say that seven years from its initial release and i still feel it. everything they've done has been incredible. some of the sickest freshest most innovative electro to date. ive even witnessed them live at an all electro party in detroit which included the likes of Ectomorph and I-F. definintely one of the all time greatest performances @ one of the all time greatest parties in detroit. this was 1996, and im still blown away when i listen to this album! tone capsule is definitely in my top 10 of great electronic albums. the sound is unmistakable. this is definitely "intergalactic communication from soul oddity".
