Specimen A

Specimen A are brothers Phil and Mo. They produce Breaks, Drum and Bass, and anything else that needs to be energetic, and get a dancefloor moving. They were born into a musical family, and raised on a diet of rave and dance music. Initially a crowd-rocking live act, compared to Prodigy, The, Specimen A turned to the studio, after finding their first love in Drum & Bass. Starting with just an AKAI S2000, and an Atari, they progressed through to having a studio which is literally busting out the door with equipment. After doing their time in Drum & Bass, they turned to the fresher, evolving Nu-Skool breaks scene, where they were quickly signed to Broke and Funkatech. Specimen A’s 1st releases on Funkatech have been some of the most eagerly awaited records the label has seen. Their recent collaborations with Far Too Loud consisting of “Headcase", on Broke and “Mental Contamination” back to back with “Soldiers at War” on Funkatech have received mass praises and huge support from artists like Autobots, Breakfastaz, The, Ctrl-Z (2), Freestylers, Aquasky, Ed209 & Ollywood as well as many more. With three more releases already scheduled for Funkatech in 2007, a long list of planned collaborations with names like Far Too Loud and Code Zero, remixes for artists like Shodan, MkM (3), GBX (2), Stormtrooperz, Rektchordz, as well as forthcoming Drum & Bass releases on Greenpiece Records and others, and a heavy schedule of gigging, you'll be hearing a lot from Specimen A, and you'll be liking it.
