Real Name:
Martin Damm
Profile:
Martin Damm has been releasing records since 1990 under various project names, the most recurrent ones being Biochip C., Speedfreak, and Search & Destroy. Starting off making german-style EBM techno, he soon became part of the Cologne school around walker, and released on labels such as Monotone, Force Inc., and Dj.ungle Fever. After his increased popularity especially with the dutch gabber scene in 1994 and 1995, Mokum and Shockwave became his home labels. His musical activities however stretch much further - tracks from his studio can be found on lots of different labels and on dozens of cd compilations. Apart from his further involvement in several labels such as Ozon (with Jammin' Unit), Napalm (plus its sublabels Agent Orange and Speedcore) and Anodyne (plus the defunct Biophobia), he is also available for live and deejay gigs. furthermore, he has started to produce his own videos and CD-ROM parts.

Part of what makes the music of Martin Damm interesting is his versatility. The tracks coming from his studio, Biosfear, stylistically stretch over the whole area of electronic dance music - going from power acid to breakcore, from drum & bass to happy gabber, from straight techno to dubby trip hop. Fans will rave about the squiggly 303 programming, the bouncy kickdrums and clattering breakbeats, the powerful and dense yet transparent overall sound, the wonderfully witty combinations and structures, the overwhelming wealth of amazing sound ideas and little melodies, and last not least the cynically cheesy organs and shameless sampling.

! The Speed Freak ! Masterproducer and Mixer !

(havent heard him DJ'ing cause am 16 so i cant say anything about that:P, but im sure his DJ skills are amazing too)

Ive used to listen to him all day long just even for all the effects and mashups from loops and samples. I have almost-/all his albums i think, i think he's one of the few producers with real skills and motivation to make all his tracks sound perfect, not to mention the time it should cost to make such tracks as he does.
I make music myself too with Fruityloops and many times i take inspiration from tracks of the speedfreak.

Respect.

I seriously cannott believe that no one has commented on the man like martin damm. One of the few who has kept it "real for the past 15 years. No joke.

He is truly as pivotal to the underground electronic scene as artists like Marc Acardipane, Joey Beltram, and a host of other luminaries i could mention.

And it is not just the amount of records he has released under numerous guises, but he has uncompromisingly written and released so many different styles of electronica that it does truly defy belief.

From the good ole days of 92, force inc and the whole cologne thing, Right up to now 2007 and his outrageous sonic, sample bent manipulations in his recent psychic genocide releases---the man damm is purely machine and definitely demands respect, regardless of what your musical preference be.

(and as i know the man himself quite well, im sure he would be extremely humbled if these words were put upon him. Respect man.)
