The house producer and engineer for legendary SST Records label. He was Black Flag's first bassist, from the summer of 1976 to the summer of 1977 and recorded, mixed, produced or co-produced for most of SST's acts between 1978 and 1985. He is credited on albums by such bands as Black Flag, Hüsker Dü and Saint Vitus. Spot has also produced several acts outside of SST and started his own label Thermidor, which released albums by Nig-Heist and other bands. Spot later retired from producing to concentrate on performing. He currently lives in Austin, Texas.
