Born on the 2nd of November 1942 in Mainz (Germany), Steve Bender is better known as the bold singer of Dschingis Khan, who eventually became fourth on the Eurovision Songfestival in Jeruzalem in 1979. Steve Bender quit the group quickly after, to establish his own production enterprise. His daughter Melanie exceeded her father, when she became thirth on the Eurovision Songfestival in Dublin in 1994 as member of the group Mekado. Steve Bender died on the 9th of May 2006 after suffering for a long time from cancer.
