The duo - vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Mic Murphy and keyboardist/songwriter David Frank - referred to their robotic, synthesizer-driven R&B as 'emotio-electro'. They recorded the first System single, "It's Passion", in 1981 while augmenting the funk band Kleeer. As the story goes, hearing the song on the radio while the Kleeer tour bus was enough to inspire them to do The System full-time. Soon Murphy and Frank were recording the album "Sweat". In 1987, they recorded their most durable hit, "Don't Disturb The Groove" but, in 1990, they did just that, and split up.
