Chillseekers, The

Real Name:
Steven Robin Helstrip
Profile:
Steve first emerged as a creative force to be reckoned with thanks to the massive support ‘Synaesthesia’ received from world class DJs Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk. This launched the relatively unknown producer into the often fickle world of dance music. Soon after, production work started coming in and Steve found himself very busy putting together an ambient mix of Chicane’s ethereal classic ‘Saltwater’ and various other remixes for the likes of Timo Maas, Blank & Jones, Seb Fontaine and Sonique. Steve has also recorded under various different guises, including En Motion, Insigma and Rapid Eye with releases on trailblazing labels including Neo, Incentive, VC and of course Data. For Thrillseekers debut on Data 'Thinking Of You', Steve teamed up with vocalist Alexis Strum. Steve also works under the guise of Hydra with his first release being "Affinity". This tune received massive support from the likes of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk being and was signed to Discover (John Askew's label) in the UK.

Reviews & Discussion

Steve Helstrip has gone from video game producer to the most sought after trance artist for almost a decade now. His music is simple yet sublime. He knows how to make a track euphoric, the powerful and emotion-affecting pads and strings, the lush melodies, only Steve can do it in a manner that makes us mere mortals, mere mortals.
Some believe there are other artists who can make beautiful uplifting trance, but in my opinion, no-one is as good as Steve when it comes to euphoric trance. In the world of competitive dance music where the new sounds of electro and tech-trance begin to take over, this is one man who stays true to his own sound and keeping trance alive as long as he lives.

Favourite music artist would have to be The Thrillseekers. After listening to Synaesthesia about 80 times, it finally sinks in that this song is what is turning the heads of the fans of electronic music. Their dub mix of Hydra's "Affinity" was quite superb and their downtempo mellow "Dreaming Of You" tops off a magnificent list of their releases. Keep up the good work and the good music as we know you can produce the stuff that we are looking for.
