Trilock Gurtu

Trilok Gurtu (* 30. Oktober 1951 in Bombay) as a son of Shobha Gurtu is a percussionist and vocalist from India, now based in Hamburg, Germany. He names John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown und The Supremes as early influences while still living in India, he first started traveling western countries in 1973. He has been an important figure for connecting Eastern and Western musical traditions both in Jazz and World Music styles.
