Twenty Twelve

Real Name:
Nick Rapattoni
Profile:
Nick Rapattoni has been playing acoustic piano since age 5. He studied classical piano intensely for twelve years performing as a soloist and accompanist in different recitals and concerts throughout his childhood. Nick then continued on and studied jazz piano for 5 years attending the University of Miami with a major in Jazz Piano Performance. For much of his child and teen years his dream was to write for film. He was always intrigued by the works of John Williams, James Horner, John Barry, Danny Elfman, Vangellis, and Harold Faltermyer. At age 13 Nick began sequencing electronic music as "sort of" an escape from classical music deciding that film scoring was his destiny. While writing music throughout highschool and college he became skilled and experienced with sequencing using a computer and snythesizers. In 1992 Nick was awarded 1st place in the "Downbeat Magazine Student Music Competition" for original composition. Dance music began to tickle his ears the summer before he left for college in 1994. After returning from the University of Miami in 1995 completing one year of music school, Nick began going to more raves/clubs/house parties/desert parties "schooling" himself in dance music. By this time Nick had long lost the film scoring ambition and found himself going to more clubs and electronic music events than movies. Realizing his interest was to create dance music, Nick headed down that road. In addition to his dance music project Nick was asked to play keyboards (Rhodes Electric piano, Clavinet, and Moog synth) for Weapon of Choice, a local funk band in L.A. Nick played around town and toured with the band for most of 1998 eventually playing with George Clinton at the "Up and Down" in San Fransisco in March. After returning from the tour Nick emersed himself completely into his electronic project
